I am proud to be a one women army taking care of the designing, manufacturing, branding and marketing aspects of the business and successfully listed our products on many online platforms like Firstcry , Hopscotch ,Etsy, Amazon etc.
Like many other businesses, COVID-related disruptions took a toll on the fragile cottage industry . While it appears that online marketplace websites may offer reduced marketing cost, a harsh reality is that ,the commission charged diminishes your profit margins considerably. However you always have an option to sell through your own website, but the single biggest challenge here, is to find a reliable and affordable shipping partner and also lack of marketing efforts and skills to compete with the biggies.
Dwindling profit margins and uncertainty of continued business ,forced us to close down the online shops .That's when I decided to follow the lifehack: If ‘Plan A’ didn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters! So instead of changing the goal , I decided to change the plan. You got that right,” it is time to focus attention on acquiring new skills that would help navigate to newer and more rewarding pastures.
